kateandlisaFacts about Ovarian Hyper-Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS)
Did you know you could have side effects from the medications used to stimulate your ovaries during the IVF process? These side effects can range from mild to severe. Excessive stimulation of the ovaries is called ovarian hyper-stimulation. This may require removing some of the fluid in the doctor’s office or the hospital and may require a stay in the hospital in 1% of patients.
Be aware of the following body changes and be sure to tell your practitioner if you have any questions or concerns.
You may have mild symptoms of hyper-stimulation during your treatment cycle. Moderate and severe symptoms occur 6 – 8 days after treatment ends.

If your period starts, you are likely to begin feeling better. Pregnancy may prolong or exaggerate these side effects. It may take up to 10 weeks for the symptoms to resolve if you are pregnant.
