kateandlisaDefinitely the hospital birthing suites, big TVs, homelike environments that hide the hospital equipment are nice. I definitely don’t want to go back to the cold and sterile labor rooms of the past. 
And, when it comes right down to it, a favorite spot for laboring moms is the bathroom!
Really, with a few simple steps the hospital bathroom can become a magical laboring cave.
- Shut off the overhead light(s)
- Bring in some battery operated candles or even a string of Christmas lights!
- Add some of her favorite music
- Add the support team – partners an doulas are great!
- Keep any family members out that could be watching her labor like a pot trying to boil
- Bring in her water cup with a straw
- Close the door until it is just cracked open
Sitting on the toilet backwards is a helpful position to labor in. So whether she is in the shower, in the tub or sitting on the toilet, this cave-like environment can be magical. I highly recommend it!
